Dr. Ries received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1979. Upon graduation he continued his education with a four year hospital based residency training program culminating with a specialty in Prosthodontics. Following completion of his residency program in 1983, Dr. Ries joined the faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston- Dental Branch as Associate Professor of Prosthodontics. He remained on the faculty for nineteen years during which time he wrote a textbook on Removable Prosthodontics. Following the attack on our nation and the destruction of the Twin Towers in New York City, Dr. Ries volunteered for active duty with the United States Air Force. He was requested in Tampa and sailed his way from Houston to St. Petersburg in his sailboat and he served as Chief Prosthodontist at Macdill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. He remained active for a period of four years until he opened his specialty prosthodontic practice on Davis Islands in 2006 and shortly retired as a reservist in 2012.
